Behringer XENYX a WINNER May 21, 2009

This little mixer is absolutely fantastic. I use it everyday in my home studio and love it, love it. The preloaded special effects are super. I mix in iPod, Drum machine and microphones then send to power guitar amp and the blend is perfect. The adjustments for my voice add depth and reverb that makes you sound professional. You will love this mixer.

This is a basic mixer. It does what you want for the price. The built in FX are quite good. The unit does not get too hot.
I use mine for a Karaoke setup for the entertainment room. I basically have two MIC's in the XLR inputs and my PC in the "tape in" RCA connections. I then push the out to my AMP via RCA and walla...instant Karaoke.
PROS:
Unit is SMALL and lightweight! It fits nicely on an entertainment shelf or a small desk where space could be an issue
FX processor is decent! The reverb sounds great.
It is not overly complex. It does exactly what you need. It is quite intuitive to operate.
CONS:
No power switch to turn off.
It has a bright blue light from the FX display and since you cannot turn it off, it's always on. That might be harsh for those that need darkness. You could just unplug it but that wasn't ideal for me so I just leave it on.
If you want simple mixing with a simple budget AND you need FX, this is your unit!

The 1002FX is an incredible little mixer for around $80. To think of this technology being available vs what was available 20 years ago is mind boggling. I remember paying $1300 for a "state of the art" digital reverb for my keyboard setup. Of course this was years ago, but today you get a great sounding FX section for an additional $20 over the 1002 w/o FX. I've never seen an inexpensive mixer so packed with features. The reverb actually sounds good too.
The only thing that really bugs me is the painfully bright blue LED that indicates that the mixer is on. It actually hurts my eyes to look at it. So I'm going to put a small piece of gaffer tape on it. Behringer should tone this LED down a bit. Also, there is no power on or off switch... just a cable that plugs into the back. But considering the price point its hard to justify any real criticism.
The unit is solidly built, with little wiggle on the knobs. The graphics are well laid out and every thing is easy to find. The unit does tend to slide around, and is a bit unwieldy with more than several cables plugged into the jacks. I put 4 rubber feet on the bottom which greatly helps in stabilizing the unit.
I was also surprised at the quality of the packaging and documentation... a glossy full colored box with a plastic handle for carrying. Little details like a plastic cover for the electricity plug. You would think with a cheap mixer corners would be cut in this department. Good owners manual... as well a manual for many different languages completes the package. Behringer thought of everything.
This mixer is not intended to compete with units twice or three times its price. Audiophiles will hear a difference. But for normal use... especially mixing live keyboards like I do the unit is an absolutely amazing device for the money.

My first time to use mixer so didn't know cables were not included. It functions well with my home theater stereo system (4+1), computer, Play Station 3, Mic, and kareoke.

I have been using this unit, a few years now being a Moblie DJ it is Great! The quality is superb, it has never let me down. I really like this Mixer so much that I bought some Behringer Microphones as well, and am very impressed with their Quality!
