5Wow...just wow.  Aug 03, 2011 By Project Guy "Project Guy"
I purchased this amp for my sister's whole house audio install through a recommendation from the AVS forums (great place for advice). For the main receiver we also got a Denon AVR-3312CI. The Crown XLS2500 was used to power the rest of the speakers in the house (i.e. "Zone 2") which I connected to impedance matching volume controls. In total there were 15 speakers (2 per room and one in the bathroom)and I set the volume control jumpers to "X8" which lowers the impedance at the amp (though this amp is 4 ohm stable).

I had the amp gain cranked up to about 1 below max to allow enough volume at the individual rooms. I was COMPLETELY blown away with how great it sounded! There was a serious amount of power to each speaker pair (which is more than she will ever need). I did a "smoke test" and put each speaker pair to about half volume (think of having to talk over the music)and let it run for about an hour. To my surprise the amp was not even warm! The Denon receiver on the other hand was getting to egg frying temps just by being turned on.

I never would have thought to use a DJ amp for a home theater install but this thing fit the bill and was MUCH cheaper than a comparable amp by Niles or the like. Another bonus was that it has RCA inputs (which is common for home / car audio) so I didn't need the 1/4" phono plug converters, it's light (about 11 lbs), small, and has banana plug speaker outs.

For those of you who are looking for an auxiliary amp for a home theater / whole house audio system this fits the bill.

4Awesome amp for the money..  Nov 17, 2011 By JAMES98WS6
Ok so my 17 year old Carver TFM-55 is on its way out. I wasnt going to spend $400 on rebuilding this amp. I started looking for something that was on par with my old Carver. The Crown XTI series and XLS were on my short list. I ended up with the XLS because of my need for RCA inputs and it was about $400 cheaper than the XTI-4000.

First off this amp is really light and makes very little heat. That is always a plus in my book. It is stable down to 2 Ohms in stereo. Sound quality is excellent. If you are needing a strong amp that doesnt cost an arm and a leg, get the XLS2500.

Pros of this amp.
1. Cost Dollar to Watt
2. Sound Quality
3. Power efficiency

Cons of this amp.
1. Made in China

Yes I know everything is made in China, but it shouldnt be. Anything made past the early 90's has went over to China. Quality at best is equal to the US made electronics. I know they can built it here and not raise the price and still make a profit.

5Great amp.  Jul 11, 2010 By Jason R. Gallia
I have 4 of these stacked in a case and can actually carry them by myself. The class d amp is amazing and the system performs wonderfully. Navigating the menus is simple. Can't go wrong.
