I own a small sound company. I started buying the XTI line of amps when they were introduced. There was a problem with some of the amps during the early production run but that was several years ago. That bug was fixed. The amps would lose one side of a stereo program or start cutting in and out. I have not seen this on any of the amps I have purchased since then. I have four XTI 4000 amps. I drive JBL MRX cabs and monitors with them as well as EAW LA400 subs. The amps are lightweight and provide a nice power source without sucking up amps and tripping breakers. The on-board Digital Signal Processing is outstanding. I use DBX DriveRacks to process my system so I don't use the amp's DSPs. You can also network the amps and run the DSPs with a laptop if you wish. Crown offers several free software packages on their website. Band manager is a nice program.
In conclusion this is one of most popular amps with the DJs and smaller live sound companies. I don't have crew to lug around hundreds of pounds of amps nor do my venues have a power distro where I could plug in multiple 20-amp monster amps.These amps do the job and are worth every penny.

WE just recently added another XTi 4000 to our system. We drive our subs with them. We have two already and added a third. The Amazon price was very, very good. I would recommend this amp since I have not had any problem with my other two and I would certainly recommend Amazon's price and their service (delivery) was prompt.

Best Two Channel Amplifier - Quality + Price May 17, 2010

I did spend a lot of time to do research before I bought Crown XTi 4000. Other made and models include Gemini XP-6000, Behringer Europower EP 4000, QSC PLX3602, Cerwin Vega CV 2800 etc.
The first amplifier I received from Amazon.com was made in China. The Power On/Off switch refused to switched 'on' after about 10 days of usage. Crown (Harman International) offered repair service under warranty. Also contacted the seller - Amazon.com. Amazon.com replaced it with an identcal model but this one was made in USA, free of charge. In addition, Amazon.com paid the return freight and insurance. Excellent service!
The amplifier is connected to a Mackie 1402 VLZ3 Mixer, a Sony DVD player, two CD players, a large screen Samsung TV and a pair of CV CLS215 speakers. The system worked fine for about one month now. It is extremely useful when watching musical programs on TV.

Thought going with crown would be a great investment for our PA system. We ran this setup for about a year and after 6 blown subs started thinking something may be wrong with the amps. After talking to crown and them assuring us that we were doing everything right we brought the amps in for service and the tech said he couldn't find a problem with them, but didn't seem to know abut the phase inversion of these amps. Be sure to do your homework before buying. Crown's quality has fallen. Anyone want to buy 2 slightly used one's with a crown warranty service certification email me. Looking to make a deal to go back to the qsc rmx2450's after spending 1200 on reconing 18in subs.
