5DENON DN-HS5500  Jun 24, 2009 By Cornell Christian "THA KID"
RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX I WAS ABLE TO SET UP AND BEGIN PLAYIN THE DN-HS5500 WITHIN 20 MINUTES. I TOOK A USB MINI DRIVE 4GB AND LOADED UP WITH RANDOM MUSIC HOOK THE DN-HS5500 TO MY MIXER AND WAS MIXING AND SCRATCHING WITH NO PROBLEMS. THIS IS A HECK OF A UNIT!!! I BOUGHT IT OVER A MONTH AGO AND I'M STILL DISCOVERING THINGS ABOUT IT. YES IT IS POWERFUL AND TO TWO CD PLAYERS BUILT INTO ONE GIVE YOU UNPRESIDENTED CONTROL FROM ONE UNIT I'M PLANNING ON BUYING THE OPTIONAL CD PLAYER BECAUSE I HAVE A TON OLD OLD SCHOOL SONGS ON CD THAT I CAN'T FIND AN MP3 FOR....WORKS FLAWLESSLY

5Gone digital  Jun 22, 2009 By Rod
Owned this for three days now, I've had no problems with it. I was mixing with it ten minutes out of the box. Since it takes up the space of only one turn table I have alot more room. I nearly bought two just because I felt the need to keep the idenity, but now I'm over it. I'm complete happy with just one. It does the job of both and selecting your music from a menu is faster than searching through records or cds giving you more time to mix. I'd sleep with this thing if my wife would let me. I thought I'd always stay true to vinyl but this thing plays so crisp and powerful. I'm not looking back.

4Sweeeet  Aug 14, 2009 By Denis Tverskoy "gi33mo"
This player is so cool. I got a couple of them. it is easy to connect with my Laptop and use like MIDI controller for DJ Traktor PRO. That thing that you have two decks in one player makes possible to use all 4 decks in the Tracktor.

Just some moments...
Of course latency.
And it couldn't read my external hard drive 500 gb. So I have bought two mini USB Flash Drives 16 Gb each.
It is better for high quality sound to buy good cables.
Wanna funny slipmats? you can create your own and just print it out (all instructions on Denon website) with your girlfriend picture... for example.

Have a great DJing =)

These are my second toys after the budget CORTEX units.
Talk about reliability.I have 2 of them and use them flawlessly.
I was using a hard drive and sync to both but now i use 64 gig flash drives
per unit.I did create a problem to the hard drive as i didnt go threw my pc to electronically disconnect.
You will create problems if you do this.I had one of them have trouble turning on.
After an update they are perfect.DJs,bystanders and others will look amazed as you play with this futuristic machines.
And as you know 1 unit can split and act as 2.So as i own 2 of them i can play as 4 turntables.
I got lucky on ebay and craigslist to get them for 500.00 each.
If your looking for reliability, and dont want to buy anything else, this will do it.

My idea is when you use flash drives, make manual folder such as HIP HOP HOUSE RAP,ETC.
I even label folders as FLOORFILLER HOUSE or other.
Makes it easy to find your music.

4Good for the price I paid  Feb 17, 2010 By Ryan Cutchall "DJ Raijin"
This is a pretty neat controller and it syncs right up with Virtual DJ if you're gonna go that route. There are some things to know first:

You can't switch thumb drives on the fly which is kinda irritating but that's only when you have 2 people with complete different styles mixing on the same table.

I've found the only effective way to mix with it is to use the pitch bend which really isn't too big of a deal honestly but I was expecting to use the platter and such. The spindle in the middle feels weird to use since it's WAY more sensitive than a vinyl table's and the direct drive motor doesn't respond like I'm used to. But you gotta keep in mind, it's not an SL1200.

The built in effects are way better than what's on my mixer so I just use them straight from the unit itself.

The cue button doesn't work like any Pioneer model's does. Don't except to use it to tap in time with the beat because you have to mash it hard and right dead center to get it to properly work. I've learned to just tap the controller itself since I've been told I hit the cue button really hard anyways.

All in all it's a good piece of gear, especially if you're low on space like me and if you plan on using it with a laptop, it get's even better.
