 Wrong sensing polarity for some applications and Wrong product title Oct 26, 2011

So, you want to run a low voltage to remotely turn on an outlet? Well, then this product is ALMOST what you need. By default, if you plug in the MP-15, its outlets are already ON, not off. When you supply the low voltage signal, the outlets turn off. This is opposite of how the Amazon product title (... Remote Turn-on from Momentary or Maintained Contact Switches) is written. Very misleading. It is opposite of what I need. I even called product support at Furman and inquired whether there might possibly be internal jumpers that could control the sensing polarity, but, alas, they were too short-sighted to think of such a need.
Internally, there is a Song Chuan 832A-1A-C-12VDC relay. That is a normally open (NO) relay. What is really needed is a single-pole, double throw (SPDT) relay with a jumper or switch to allow you to pick the polarity. I'm planning on modifying my MP-15 and swapping in a 832A-1C-C-12VDC relay and rewiring it to get the polarity I need. Lucky that I am skilled with a soldering iron...
 Works great with Floodstop Jul 22, 2011

I installed Floodstop for the washer hookup and followed the idea suggested by Savage to install a Furman relay so that in the event the washer drain line gets clogged when the washer is discharging water, the relay would shut off the power to the washer. This, combined with the Floodstop shutting off the water, would prevent the damage. I used the 15 amp version since my washer runs on 110V. The installation was a breeze and the relay worked as expected during each test. The unit is sturdy and comes with a 10-ft cord. It came in handy as I had no outlets close to the washer. Just make sure you hook up the leads from the Floodstop to the appropriate connectors on the relay (labeled 12V DC and REM).
