High quality industrial device! Very pleased.
I am actually using it in my home in conjunction with a Aqua Managers - FS 3/4-H90 - Floodstop for Washing Machines Water Leak Detection System - White - Washing machine leak detector kit. When water is detected on the floor (on water sensor pad) the FloodStop will close the supply line water valves to the washing machine, but I wanted to also stop the case where if the drain line were compromised or stopped up, I could shut off the power to the entire washing machine thereby stopping the machine from pumping any more water out of the drain line. Fortunately the FloodStop controller exposes both normally open and normally closed IO leads. One extremely nice thing about the Furman compared to other similarly product I look at is that it includes an internal 12 VDC supply that can be used to control the power relay, thus no other external low voltage power supply is required. So connecting the FloodStop and the Furman was a piece of cake and now with the washing machine plugged into the Furman, anytime water is detected, the FloodStop tells the Furman to shut off the washer. Genius!
This may sound like overkill, but when your washer is on the second floor and your home entertainment system is directly below on the first floor it forces you to think carefully about extreme preventative measures. Plus about two weeks after installing this system in my house, my neighbor had their washing machine overflow and cause about $3k worth of damage. So these scenarios are not all that uncommon :-)
For heavy duty appliances such as washing machines, the 20 amp version of the Furman is recommended.

The Furman Power Relay works great! I connected it with the FloodStop System, which controls the power to the washer. You need to put the washer on a plastic tray for the best setup.

I know this is a bit pricey, but it works great and it seems to be very well built. Can't go wrong! The only improvement I can see is maybe a different style plug that is on a right angle instead of a straight.

i purchased the furman mp-15 along with the floodstop for a second floor laundry room. i found the instructions overwhelming and not for a novice homeowner. i actually wound up following the review of another amazon customer who uploaded pics and a step by step of how to hook up both the furman and the floodstop together. i tested both units and they worked fine. the cord is very long and can reach if your main outlet is farther away. although if placed next to main outlet, there is a lot of cord to contend with. if you dont tie wrap it, it can look messy and get in the way.

Bought this awhile ago and just installed it this past weekend. Installation is straight forward. You must supply your own contact switch such as the ones you put on the ground to alert you of water flooding. We hooked up a washing machine Floodstop which will shut off the water supply in the event of a water leak. This device will shut off the power to the washing machine so it doesn't keep pumping out water if the leak happens during the rinse/spin cycle. Total cost was about $300 for both but well worth it if it prevents flooding your house.
