After being disappointed by the popular Shure cartridge case, I looked to this one to save the day. The pictures made it seem like a solid product from a company that makes a lot of great cases for turntables and mixers. However, about 10 days after the return period I noticed a crack in the clear acrylic plastic which is what most of this case is made of. That's right, this thing is made of clear acrylic plastic, its only black and looking like the hard wood (the stuff that your turntable cases are made of) because of black foam that is the basis of the "protection" (very sarcastic) this case is supposed to provide. I cannot trust this thing to protect the cartridges with or without the delicate needle attached, let alone the needle itself. today, as I was packing up for a gig, I noticed that the casing had opened itself while in my bag and the two needles that i had in the case had fallen out to the bottom, and they are now basically destroyed. The case won't even stay closed in a book bag!!! Basically, this thing has cost me about $80 all together, and all I wanted was a case to protect my needles when in transit.
Stay far away from this piece of junk. Its cheaply made and not be trusted with expensive cartridges or needles. Marathon should be ashamed for putting together such a terrible product! This thing is pure garbage.

Ended up returning this. The foam is solid with no cut-outs to hold your cartridges. I guess they want you to take a knife to it to carve out a slot yourself, no thanks. Otherwise it looks like the case would keep your cartridges safe, provided you carve out a slot that'll hold them still without putting too much stress on the needles.
