I have purchased three of these mixers and find them adequate for most uses. Many on-line reviews complain that connecting a 9 volt ac adapter causes a loud hum, making it useless. I have found that you must use a regulated and filtered adapter. Try using the Radio Shack Universal AC-to DC Power Adapter number 273-0028. It costs less than twenty dollars and provides pure filtered DC. Set it to 9 volts. Use the adapter plug "M" and be sure the tip is marked (-) negative. You will get clean, hum-free sound, and save on batteries.

Fun with Home Recording May 26, 2009

After searching 40+ years and finding a former band member living on the opposite shore from me, we decided to get into CakeWalk and carry on with our 60's music. I needed a unit to bring everything together in my home studio. I wanted high quality at a lower price. After weeks of research, I found the perfect unit; The Nady 4/8 Mini Mixer. It works in the studio as well as with my amps located in my basement. Great all around device.

I'm definately not an audiophile, but this mixer does all I want it to. It may be a bit noisey, but the filters in Audacity seem to take care of any of my problems there. All in all it was a cheap way to send 4-8 microphones to a single output. I've used it a bunch of times without any problems, battery life seems good and it is light and easy to toss in a bag with my other recording junk. It may be worth it to most to buy the grounded AC adapter if it quiets some of the hiss.
Edit- Don't expect much customer support from Nady. I had some questions when I first got the mixer and they seemed a bit condescending in their response, then a while later I asked for the AC adapter specs and never got a reply.

Very happy with this mixer! Jan 22, 2011

I received one mixer originally that was dead out of the box. I had to mess with it to get it to power on (my first indication of something very bad) then once I got the power to stay on there must have been a short internally because it was just generating a ton of noise when an output was connected to the A side (in mono or stereo). I put an exchange item order in through Amazon and they sent me a new unit out 2-day shipping and I printed out the return label, put the old one back in the box and dropped it off to the post office the next day.
I was extremely happy with Amazon's response over this, it was extremely simple and efficient.
The second unit came in and it works perfectly! I'm using it to pre-mix a set of drum kit mic's before sending to out mixer through two snake channels. I'm keeping the higher drums/cymbals on one channel and the lower drums on the other so I can eq them differently. It works great!
